Following is a list of freeware that provides tools for measuring and tracking weather data and trends. Before you access any software or apps, please read our disclaimer and permissions page if you haven't already done so.

Atmospheric Properties Calculator
By The JavaScript Source. Input altitude, speed, and reference length and this online calculator will estimate temperature, density, pressure, speed of sound, viscosity, Reynolds Number, and more.

CALMPRO
By US Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS). Calms Processor (CALMPRO) is a meteorological processor which provides consistent application of handling calms by setting the wind direction of the calm hour to the last reported wind direction and the wind speed to 1 m/s.

Climate Prediction Center
By US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Worldwide climate predictions.

Meteorological Data Files
By US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The meteorological data files contain measurements taken at 237 weather stations located throughout the United States for a period extending from 1961 to 1990. Exact collection dates vary by weather station. These data files are compatible with the PRZM3, EXAMS, and PATRIOT software models distributed through the Center for Exposure Assessment Modeling (CEAM).

Pressure Units Converter
By The JavaScript Source. Use this online calculator to convert from one unit of pressure to another, including lbs/sq inch, atmospheres, inches Hg, inches H2O, and others.

PRMS (Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System) (for Data General AViiON)
By US Geological Survey (USGS). A deterministic, distributed-parameter modeling system developed to evaluate the impacts of various combinations of precipitation, climate, and land use on streamflow, sediment yields, and general basin hydrology. Source code is available.

PRMS (Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System) (for DOS)
By US Geological Survey (USGS). A deterministic, distributed-parameter modeling system developed to evaluate the impacts of various combinations of precipitation, climate, and land use on streamflow, sediment yields, and general basin hydrology. Source code is available.

Vis5D
By Visualization Project at University of Wisconsin-Madison Space and Engineering Center (SSEC). Vis5D is a system for interactive visualization of large 5-D gridded data sets such as those produced by numerical weather models. One can make isosurfaces, contour line slices, colored slices, volume renderings, etc of data in a 3-D grid, then rotate and animate the images in real time. There's also a feature for wind trajectory tracing, a way to make text annotations for publications, support for interactive data analysis, etc.

WRPLOT View
By Lakes Environmental Software. A fully operational wind rose Windows program for your meteorological data. WRPLOT View is a replacement for the US EPA DOS utility WRPLOT.
