EarthTrends:The Environmental Information Portal
By World Resources Institute. An online collection of information regarding the environmental, social, and economic trends that shape our world. EarthTrends offers the public a large breadth of statistical, graphic, and analytical data in easily accessible formats.

Eco-tourism Maps
By Earth Day Network and Google Maps. Map and video tours of five top US vacation spots will introduce you to a bounty of environmentally-friendly activities, attractions and amenities. You can also use Google Maps to find green options for wherever you wish to roam.

Environmental Treaties and Resource Indicators (ENTRI)

GRID-Arendal Maps and Graphics Database
By United Nations Environment Programme. Graphics and maps that show pollution and atmosphere and climate change globally. Generally free for non-commercial use if source listed.

HORIZON Solutions Site
By HORIZON Communications, UNEP, UNDP, UNPF, UNICEF, Harvard University, Yale University, and the IDRC of Canada. A source of case studies on proven or promising solutions drawn from all parts of the world and from both high and low technologies. Subjects include agriculture, biodiversity, desertification, forests, oceans, fisheries, land management, energy production and consumption, population, public health, toxic chemical and pollution control, transportation, waste management, and water quality and supply.

HydroSHEDS
By World Wildlife Fund. HydroSHEDS is a global hydrological database based on high-resolution elevation data obtained during a Space Shuttle flight for NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM). HydroSHEDS stands for "Hydrological data and maps based on SHuttle Elevation Derivatives at multiple Scales."

Users can search by map name, county name, or city to retrieve a list of Topographical maps, County maps, Surface Minerals Management Series maps, Land Use maps, and others available from the USGS. While the online catalog is free, users are required to register. Google Earth plugin required.

San Francisco Bay Region Geology and Geologic Hazards

With heightened public awareness about earthquake hazards on the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the California Geological Survey, has prepared three maps of the San Francisco Bay Area designed to provide a new look at the geologic history and hazards of the region: Geologic Map, Quaternary-Active Fault Map, and Liquefaction Susceptibility Map.
