AirCasting App
By HabitatMap. AirCasting is an Android app for recording, mapping, and sharing health and environmental data using your smartphone. Each AirCasting session lets you capture real-world measurements, annotate the data to tell your story, and share it via the CrowdMap. AirCasting is an open source project.

AIRNow Mobile App
By US Environmental Protection Agency. The AIRNow mobile application provides real-time air quality information that you can use to protect your health when planning your day. You can get location-specific reports on current air quality and air quality forecasts for both ozone and fine particle pollution (PM2.5). Air quality maps from the AIRNow website provide visual depictions of current and forecast air quality nationwide, and a page on air quality-related health effects explains what actions people can take to protect their health at different AQI levels, such as "code orange." Available for iPhone and Android.

Cargo Decoder App
By Strategies in Software. Cargo Decoder is your guide to what is in the truck or tanker next to you on the highway. Enter the 4 digit number from the DOT placard to learn about a material and see details from both the 2012 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG 2012) and 2008 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG 2008). Cargo Decoder uses no network bandwidth so information will always be available even if the cell network is not. Available through Google for free or for a small fee through other vendors. Cargo Decoder supports the Emergency Response Guidebook in English, Spanish, and French.

ChemAlert App

Chemical Safety Data Sheets App -- ICSC

Dangerous Goods Manual App

Dust Storm App
By University of Arizona. To help protect drivers from dust-related dangers on the road, the University of Arizona has created a mobile application for iPhones that provides dust storm alerts and safety tips. The app uses a person's geographical location anywhere in the United States to determine if there is danger of a dust storm, or any other type of storm, in the area. The warnings come directly from the WeatherBug service.

The source of this information is a US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) database of State water quality monitoring reports provided under the Clean Water Act.

By US Department of Agriculture, Forest Service. i-Tree provides urban forestry analysis and benefits assessment tools, which help determine the economic and ecological value of trees. The i-Tree Tools help communities of all sizes to strengthen their urban forest management and advocacy efforts by quantifying the structure of community trees and the environmental services that trees provide.

Journey North App

MMH Calculator App
By Rising Step. With this free version of the MMH Calculator (Manual Material Handling) the recommended weight limit for lifting tasks can be calculated. The calculation is based on the revised NIOSH lifting equation. This method is internationally established, and is e.g. used by Dutch Labour Inspectorate.

By US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This app lets users anonymously report precipitation from their Apple or Android mobile device. With the mPING app, anyone can send a weather observation on the go. The user simply opens the app, selects the type of precipitation that is falling at his or her location, and presses submit. The user’s location and the time of the observation are automatically included in the report. All submissions will become part of a research project called PING – Precipitation Identification Near the Ground.

MSDS Mobile App

My Place History App

A tool that links your personal place history to personal environmental experience using several governmental databases, including the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Institute of Health's known chemical database. Using U.S. street addresses to create and maintain a personal place history, My Place History allows you to gather general information about the distance (or proximity) to certain specific events, hazards or exposures. MyEnvironment App
